Bitmain’s Jihan Wu announces 7nm chip

A few short moments ago, co-founder and CEO of Bitmain, Jihan Wu @JihanWu announced at the World Digital Mining summit in Tbilisi, Georgia, that his company is currently having their 7nm Bitcoin mining chip, coined the BM1391, being mass produced by TMSC.

The next generation chip is expected to have efficiencies of 42 J/TH, a big increase of performance to power draw ratio.

Details on when these chips will be ready for commercial use inside their next gen SHA256 miner are still unclear, however we can expect more news to follow in the coming months.
